Filling stomachs and finding God

by

Part of Texas Hope 2010, an initiative to share the gospel with every Texan by Easter 2010, is to feed the hungry in this state. I shared in recent days that it appears an increasing number of Texas Baptists are looking to do just that. Tomi Grover, BGCT community and restorative justice specialist, shared recently that roughly one church is calling her every day looking to either start a hunger ministry or expand the hunger ministry it already is doing.

But what kind of impact are they having? Tomi sent me a report today from only 15 feeding ministries across the state. In the first quarter of 2009, they feed 84,000 people. Through feeding those meals and the relationships that followed, 155 people made professions of faith. Outstanding.

Tomi has written some great stuff about the impact hunger ministries can have. Check it out by clicking here.
