Texas Baptist Men headed to Arkansas

Texas Baptist Men sent six teams of volunteers armed with chainsaws to help people in Arkansas Feb. 7.

Thirty-five workers are helping people clear broken limbs that have fallen on their homes and across their driveways. The teams are from the Collin Baptist Association, Denton Baptist Association, Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo, Paramount Baptist Church in Irving, Sabine-Neches Baptist Area and Campground Baptist Church in Woodville.

Recent heavy ice storms broke a significant number of trees and branches, said Dick Talley, TBM state disaster response director. Some people will be without power for as long as six weeks.

“Because of the ice storms, there was an enormous need for mild to heavy removal of trees, limbs and branches from Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee,” Talley said.
