I’m a planner. I like having things planned out. And why plan if you don’t follow that plan to some degree. Planning works great in my field – it enhances cohesive communications.
The Rio de Esperanza week has a detailed plan and I knew that things would change as we entered the mission week. It has changed more than I expected and I’m OK with it because every change has led to a new, growing or effective ministry that is doing God’s work in an awesome way.
Instead of visiting mission work in Big Bend Association churches – we filled sandbags in Presidio to keep homes dry. Instead of planning out initial itinerary changes – we drove all over El Paso buying every AM/FM radio to keep people aware of the flooding situation. Instead of visiting Lake Amistad missions – we prayed on land donated to Primera in Del Rio for God to bless the future mission site to reach the community.
God has a plan for us and a way for us to spread His love. All we need to do is start doing and let the spirit lead.
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ehp 2:10
