We’ve shared the TBM has been ministering before, during and after the storm. We’ve mentioned how some Texas Baptists have helped before and after.
But Bruce Peterson reminded me today how hard chaplains are working throughout this time. When it became clear the storm was headed toward Southeast Texas, the area shifted into crisis mode. Police, hospital and military chaplains have been helping people through the trauma of the storm and continue doing so.
I ran into Gene Grounds of Victim Relief Ministries yesterday on Galveston Island. He said VRM had six chaplains on the islands yesterday. Today they will have 20 and tomorrow there will be 30. Next week, the BGCT is set to dispatch a team of special-trained chaplains to help people as they return to their homes.
“The chaplains just did a phenomenal amount of work during this time,” Bruce said.
On a somewhat connected note, Bruce’s church in Alvin sustained considerable damage. It’s fellowship hall and offices are usable, but the rest isn’t. Please be in prayer for this congregation.
