Continuing with the study on preaching published in Your Church magazine, here are some more stats on preaching.

34 percentof those who participated in the survey agreed “Each year there are times I preach on a Bible text or topic that I know will likely cause some people to stop attending.” 39 percent disagreed with the statement.

87 percent of survey-takers agreed “In my sermons, I do not hesitate to use words that others may find offensive, such as sin, obedience, rebellion, disobedience, holiness, judgment and wrath.”

50 percent agreed “Over time, there is a strong relationship between the topics and the Scripture texts preached on Sundays and the number of people who attend. 33 percent were “neutral.”
