The unrest in Kenya is bringing Kenyans in North Texans together and the effort is led by church leaders, including at least one Texas Baptist pastor. It is estimated about 70,000 Kenya natives live in North Texas, and many of them still have a connection to the country. Churches are praying for peace in a country they remember as peaceful.
“Because when people are dying, no one is a winner, all are losers,” said Shadrack Ruto, pastor of Upendo Baptist Church in Dallas. “… My brother has lost a house. We have members whose parents have lost homes, businesses.”
