What would you pay for a “life-changing experience?”

by

In the October issue of Southwest Airlines’ Spirit magazine, there’s an article about the rising rental industry. Apparently people can rent nearly anything — car, clothes, sunglasses, pets, you name it. In fact, many people are renting the entire package in an effort to get a glimpse at another life.

According to the article, people spent $22,746 on “life-changing experiences” in 2005. For comparison, Baptist World Aid has a project to feed 2,000 destitute Sudanese families for $26,280.

I couldn’t help but wonder why folks don’t save their money and walk into the nearest gospel-preaching congregation. There they can find permanent life change.

Some things never cease to amaze me.
