We posted this story to the web site a few days ago, but I thought it would be good to post it here for those who may have missed it.
Search committee interviewing executive director candidates
By John Hall (10/23/07)
The committee searching for the next Baptist General Convention of Texas executive director is in the midst of interviewing candidates.
The committee already has interviewed several of the nearly 10 candidates from across the state it intends to sit down with, according to Ken Hugghins, committee chair. Each person would bring a unique set of gifts to the position.
“We are interviewing people with diverse backgrounds from across the state,” he said. “The executive director position requires a unique and balanced mixture of gifts. It’s like a cake recipe that needs the proper amount of sugar, the proper amount of spice in order to work.”
Hugghins encouraged Texas Baptists to continue pray for the search committee. It is working hard and seeking God’s guidance throughout the process. The committee has determined it will fulfill its appointed task of putting forth an executive director nomination and will not suggest the BGCT Executive Board seek an intentional interim executive director.
“We are seeking the person God would like to be the next executive director of the BGCT,” Hugghins said.
BGCT Executive Director Charles Wade has announced he will retire at the end of January.
